"Waiting for blood tests"

About: Chase Farm Hospital

(as the patient),

This morning my GP ordered some blood tests, one of which required me to fast for 3 hours. I set off for Chase Farm, without having lunch. A bad sign was the number of people outside the door to the blood test unit. Inside the place was heaving with people and not a chair in sight. Before taking a ticket I asked how long the wait was. I was advised to take a numbered ticket and that would tell me how long the queue was. As I couldn't quite see how I asked someone else who advised me that the wait was nearly 3 hours. For someone who was already hungry this was unacceptable, so I left, to return tomorrow when I have more time to waste. The cost of this exercise will be £8.00 as Chase Farm charges £4.00 for parking. So, if you need blood taken at Chase Farm, be prepared!
