"Had to walk through main foyer in dressing gown and slippers"

About: New Victoria Hospital / Day surgery

(as the patient),

Was treated very well by all staff, who were caring and professional. However, I did not appreciate having to walk from ward 3, Day Surgery, to the Imaging Department through the main foyer and cafe area in my dressing gown and slippers. There must surely be a designated way of arriving at x-ray. This should have been thought about when building the New Victoria Hospital. [Lumpectomy]

Thank you for your story regarding your recent admission to the Day surgery unit. Thanks for letting us know that you felt well cared for by staff, we really appreciate that. We are sorry you felt uncomfortable with moving between our department and x-ray. The nature of this procedure means that patient movements must be limited making dressing and undressing impossible. I feel confident that our staff would have ensured that your dignity was fully maintained at all times by your dressing gown and slippers. However, I will share your story with all members of our team as a reminder to us all that this can feel uncomfortable and awkward for patients.

As you'll appreciate the x-ray department has to be located next to the minor injuries department as it uses their services most frequently. In Day Surgery we only require to use their service once or twice a week. Unfortunately there is no other route between our departments.

We are always keen to hear from patients and appreciate you taking the time to give us this feedback. It's a great way to help us keep thinking about things we can do better.

Thanks again and hope things are going well for you
