"Gynaecological laparoscopy"

About: Tiverton and District Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

In April this year I attended Tiverton Hospital for a gynaecological laparoscopy. The local Gynaecologist/GP carrying out the procedure failed to spot ovarian cancer and also despite noting abnormalities failed to take biopsies of the abnormalities.

During the procedure an ovarian cyst was ruptured and leaked a significant amount of fluid. This leakage continued post operatively yet I was discharged as there were no facilities to admit following day surgery. The fluid leakage lasted for a couple of days.

Following laparoscopy, I was told that I would be referred to the RDE Hospital for follow up. Despite the abnormalities seen, this process was not fast tracked and I waited 10 weeks for an appointment. During this time my situation deteriorated dramatically as the cancer developed.
