"You'll wait for hours"

What could be improved

I took my 9-year old daughter, who was in serious pain, to the walk-in department just after 10 am. The person at reception said there was just one person ahead of her to be assessed. Over 1.5 hours later, after I had complained twice at the desk, I almost had to barge in to have my daughter seen. They explained that it wasn't first come first served, which I can accept, but the decision as to who is seen next is not made by a nurse but by the receptionists. This is very scary, especially if you have a child in a lot of pain. I only went there because my GP surgery couldn't see her, but the stress of waiting and seeing people who'd arrived well after us getting seen before us really didn't help. Next time I will go to Barnet A&E.
