"Let down and disapointed"

About: Cumberland Infirmary

What I liked

Some staff were caring and would go out of there way to accomodate you

What could be improved

Other staff need to listen and treat you as a person, if this had happened from the start the likelihood of occurring the injuries I substaind during labour would have been avoided. They also need to assess pacients on an individual basic not by the standard norm. An 11.4 lb baby is not a normal weight for someone that was a size 10 and some serious questions should be being asked.

Anything else?

I put my trust in the nhs and feel deeply let down, I would appreciate a written plan of any further treatment if I am able to go on and have a second pregnancy as at the moment it has been proven I can not trust what is said as there is a lack of communication and team work in the nhs

Firstly, can we apologise for not responding to you sooner. We have put a new system in place recently to ensure that responses are made in a more timely way. Thank you for taking the time to tell us about the poor experience you received at the Cumberland Infirmary following the birth of your baby. Firstly we would like to apologise for the lack of care and compassion which was shown to you at such an important and special time. We have shared your experience with the Head of Midwifery and the senior midwives so that we can immediately learn from your poor experience and how this made you feel. Please accept our apologies again for your poor patient experience. We do provide an afterthoughts service for all new parents and hope that you did take advantage of this so that the teams are able to learn from your experience.
