After being diagnosed promptly and efficiently at my appointment with Dr. Ahmed at the Trauma and Orthopaedics clinic at Corbetts Hospital (part of the Dudley Group of Hospitals) I was admitted for Arthroscopy surgery in October 2012.
From check in at 7.30 am, the care I received was professional and compassionate.
The ward was spotless, all staff observing the "wash your hands" signs. The junior nurse did all she could to make the patients on the day surgery ward feel at ease, explaining carefully their procedures and what paperwork needed completion and why. Checks of the details of each patient were undertaken by all staff and it assured me that Serious Incidents or Never Events just would not be happening on this ward.
The surgical and anaesthetics teams came to discuss each patient's operation and procedure and used the WHO surgical checklist. Very rassuring to know the surgical team are following World Health Organisation guidelines on safe surgery.
I was allowed home at 1.30 pm and from arrival to discharge the whole experience was professional and caring.
I don't feel it could have been any better had I paid privately for this treatment.
