"Parking with injured child"

About: Sheffield Children's Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

On Wednesday 12/07/06, I took my son to the Sheffield Childrens Hospital for treatment.

After 1hr 15mins I finaly found a parking space.

The dept was busy dealing with a far worse case than my sons hurt finger, so we waited to be seen, however when we got to the car we realised that I had a £60.00 parking fine.

Why can't the hosp have allocated parking for A&E so that legitimate parents can look after their children, without the worry of a parking fine thrown in?

Unfortunately there isn't any room for any parking at the end of the hospital where the Accident and Emergency Department is. Our car parks for families are located at either side of the hospital Main Entrance.

I am able to help families who receive parking tickets by giving them proof that they were attending this hospital and often this allows the ticket to be cancelled.
