"mental health services in aston house, deeside"

About: Deeside Community Hospital / Rehabilitation

(as the patient),

After discharge from Wrexham's psychiatric hospital, I was introduced in to Community Mental Health Services. I have been give a consistent and personal approach to my care. My psychiatrist has always been fully engaged and supportive, never making me feel that my diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder / Depression was a stigma that I should be ashamed of.

I have had two care co-ordinators in my 7 years in the service:

An Occupational Therapist who went above and beyond, showing me ways to control and stop panic attacks, improve my self esteem/image to the extent that was comfortable leaving house, showing me that my "voices" where not truly real.

I currently have a CPN who has worked with me, showing me distraction techniques and while its true I was dedicated to change my coping mechanism I now no longer self-harm or over dose, he has showed me ways to become more insightful and therefore improved my relationships with others around me.

I have been able to trust in the Aston House CMHT so much, as the staff I have been in contact with have been truly passionate and dedicated to their jobs. Their knowledge in other services to help outstanding, non-judgmental, understanding and their ability to build these therapeutic relationships is what allows them both to challenge both me and my behaviours to make me understand them and ultimately change them.

In fact they have been so effective I have now chosen to purse a carer in psychiatric nursing, and have started on my path to become this. I hope that in 4 years time I can become as effective as they have been for me.
