"Takeover of Wolds View surgery, Bridlington"

(as the patient),

Well from a patients point of view nothing. You haven't bothered to talk to any of the registered patients at all in the months since you were awarded the contract.

Staff have left and we the patients have no idea what you have planned for us whilst MIU is moved in. When will be get the full-time permanent staff that we have lost in the last two and a half years? What is happening to our exisisting staff? When will we get a voice in any of this? No one asked us if we agreed with this merger they just asked ERYLINK whose members use the town surgeries not Wolds View.

We want to know what you are going to do to our surgery and in my opinion you have not made a good impression on any of us by putting up a poster which says nothing about patients views.

Kindly show us some courtesy and come and introduce yourselves to your patients and answer the questions we have about our services and our staff. Manners cost nothing but go a very long way. We are worried about our staff and our care and we need answers.

Response shared on behalf of City Health Care Partnership, Hull:

Dear erose

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback and we are sorry to hear that you feel you have not been communicated with effectively.

As you may be aware, we were selected to provide this new service with effect from 1st October 2012, following a tender process by NHS East Riding of Yorkshire to integrate the GP access, Wolds View Surgery and the Minor Injuries Unit at Bridlington hospital. We have not been in a position to provide further details until this point and are in the process currently of writing to all patients to introduce ourselves and welcome them to the new service. We have completed an extensive consultation process with the staff transferring into the new service over the last three months, and are in the process of advertising and recruiting new staff.

Our focus now is to continue to work with both staff and local patient groups, to develop and enhance services to suit the needs of the local population, ensuring we deliver the highest quality services we possibly can with patients at the heart of those services. This includes setting up a Patient Participation Group for those patients registered with the practice.

We hope this clarifies our position and would be happy to speak to you directly if you have any further questions. Please contact Anita Burnhill 01262 423464 or via email on anita. burnhill@nhs. net

Update posted by erose (the patient)

Thank you for your response.

Whilst I am pleased that you are now going to write to the registered patients, I have to ask why you did not have these letters ready to send to us by the contract start date of Oct 1st. You have known for sometime that you had won the contract and could have taken this time to come and meet us.

We will welcome a Patient Group of our own, some of us suggested this earlier in the year so that we the registered patients have a voice of our own. I look forward to taking an active part in such a group.

As someone with long term health issues I feel it is very important to take an active part in my care and help the surgery develop services for ours like myself. I look forward to reading your letter.
