What I liked
At the end of a pleasant weekend in the Torbay/Paignton area, my 5 years old child, Roseanna, broke her arm and so we headed straight to Torbay hospital. Right from the start, staff were helpful, polite, good-humoured and professional. Unfortunately, she needed surgery and the staff of Louisa Cary ward did their best to make us welcome and cared for us overnight and into the following morning before our return to South West London. The ward was clean, friendly and well-equipped with children's toys and Roseanna quite enjoyed her stay, despite the circumstances. I am in no doubt that her experience at Torbay hospital was positive and we are grateful for everything the staff did for us.
Please pass on our thanks to the A&E receptionist, the nurses and doctors that saw us so promptly, the radiographer and her assistant, the orderlies, the bone specialist, anaesthetist, registrar, consultant, the ward nursing staff (both day and night shifts), the post-op assistants in the recovery room and those who work in the children's ward providing and clearing up the toys and so on. It was amazing to receive such informative & personal attention from all mentioned which went some way to engendering an efficient, caring and "in safe-hands" feeling.
Just reading the list above goes to show what a huge amount of resource has gone into providing what was truly great service, although I'm sure I've probably missed off some who deserve equal praise. I hope that others who have cause to visit your hospital experience the same level of patient care that we received and again, our thanks to all who made it as positive as it could have been.
