"absolutely terrible care."

About: St James's University Hospital

What I liked

Nothing.

What could be improved

The staff could have been a lot more friendly and caring, instead of putting me in a bed and leaving me alone all night.

Staff also need to communicate better as I was given an overdose of paracetamol and codeine after my operation, obviously I was a bit out of it, luckily my mum noticed!

Anything else?

I have been put off hospitals for life after my experience in St James's. I was not listened to, respected or treated with dignity. Instead I was left completely on my own, in a lot of pain, without adequate painkillers. How's paracetamol going to help after an operation? Everyone else was given morphine or another strong painkilling drug.

I was sent home the next day again without adequate painkilling medication and was in so much agony I had to go back.

I was then left for months, still in pain, to wait for a follow up appointment. What a waste of time! Despite me being on tramadol and still in a lot of pain, they refused to send me for a scan. After this, they sent me away to await another follow up appointment...

4 months on from that dreadful follow up appointment, I'm still in an awful lot of pain, left with nerve damage and I'm still on tramadol.

I'm only 17, I don't want to be relying on painkillers for the rest of my life. My life has been effected immensely.
