"The nursing was unsmiling"

About: Victoria Infirmary

(as the patient),

The nursing was unsmiling charmless and thus appeared uncaring. In 40 hrs I was not offered a newspaper the oppurtunity to listen to the wireless or the use of a telephone, as I arrived in the hospital after an accident with nothing other than my clothes this meant staring at the ceiling.

I was left attached to an empty drip bag for two hrs and if I had not drawn a nurses attention I might have remained there all night.

A nurse dropped some items whilst taking my temperature and these items were still on the floor 16 hrs later.

None of this would have mattered if the nursing had not been so perfunctory and carried out in a manner that made one feel an inconveient and tiresome job.

From the endless gossiping at the nurses station it was clear that the nurses were not overworked or short staffed

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to provide your feedback.

I am sorry that this posting was not acknowledged at the time, we had a break in our use of Patient Opinion, but we have now resumed doing so, and I thought it was still important to acknowledge your posting.

You raised a number of issues that are of concern and we would like to feed these back to the ward in question. In order to do so, can you please provide further details and send these to complaints@ggc.scot.nhs.uk and we pass these comments on to the specific ward manager.

Paul
