"Poor cleanliness on Harvey 1 at Nottingham City Hospital"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - City Campus / General surgery

(as the patient),

I was a patient on Harvey ward 1 at the Nottingham City hospital for the treatment of a gall bladder inflammation.

Toilet and washroom facilities were inadequate for the use of the ward.

The arrangement for discharge could be greatly improved - after being told at 4.30pm that I was being discharged, it took until after 8pm before the paperwork and medication were ready.

Although there are notices about only 2 visitors per patient, this was never observed, with as many as 6-8 visitors around some people's beds. This must obviously be a disturbance to the running of the ward and to other patients in the ward.

Finally, cleanliness could be improved, particularly over the weekend when considerably fewer staff are employed in this role.
