What I liked

My mum was a patient on Derwent Ward for 3 weeks and sadly passed away there this week. Without exception, the staff were fantastic both to my mum and the rest of the family. They took time to sit down to explain both to my mum and myself and my sisters every aspect of her care. As soon as we realised my mum was close to the end, they moved her into her own room to give her more privacy and ultimately to a larger with a room with a kitchen so we could stay with mum whenever we wanted.

At all times my mum's comfort was their priority. The staff were equally concerned for our well being as well as my mum's and made sure we were kept informed at all times.

We could not have asked for better care for my mum during her last weeks and cannot thank all the staff on Derwent Ward enough.

Hi, I have fed these comments back to the staff on the ward and at a time when staff morale is low they were gratefully received. The staff really appreciated the comments and were pleased to have the care that they had given acknowledged.
