The good: the surgery seems to have been a success, and from the time I went down to theatre the nursing staff were very supportive, and looked after me well while I was recovering (in the recovery room and on the ward).
The bad: I arrived as requested at 7am having been nil by mouth from 10pm the night before. After arrival and a brief assessment by the anaesthetist, I sat for four hours on plastic chairs in a general waiting area being ignored by staff, who were busily using the kitchen right next to us. Not being given any information at all was very stressful and annoying.
