"Crawley Hospital Surgery"

About: Crawley Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

After my pre op assessment at east surrey hospital I received a call the next day asking if I could go in the following week for my operation for a cystoscopy procedure. The staff in the ward were kind and nothing too much trouble and I must give praise to all the staff involved from the nurses, anaesthetists and the skill of the surgeon.

Nothing was too much trouble and everything was explained to me and every erffort made to allay my fears.

My only constuctive criiticism is that I was told to be there at 7. 45 which I did only to be told that I was fifth on the list. This meant that I had a four hour wait during which time I became increasingly nervous. I really feel that a call the evening before to tell me to be there at 9. 30 would have been so much beter. Having said that, I do appreciate thet someone may not have arrived on the day which could have changed things.

I would like to thank all concerned for looking after me so well and for giving me such prompt treatment after suffering for so long.

Dear frustrated and dismayed

I am sorry you were not able to get your blood test result when you first tried at 1145. As Switchboard explained, this is because the line is closed at this time. I apologise for this not being explained on the answer phone message.

However, this hospital trust is not responsible for this phone line or the booking service at Horsham Hospital who book the appointments. This service is supplied by NHS West Sussex - the Primary Care Trust for this area. I will forward your comment to the communications team at the PCT for information.

For your information we do have a Patient Advice and Liaison Service who are there to listen to concerns, suggestions or queries and can help sort out problems quickly on your behalf. You can contact PALS by telephone on 01737 231958, email: pals@sash. nhs. uk, or by writing to: PALS, East Surrey Hospital, Canada Avenue, Redhill, Surrey RH1 5RH.

Sorry I cant help more on this occassion,

Eloise
