What I liked
The staff were very friendly. I was bought tea, biscuits and a sandwich after my operation and they made very sure I was ready to go home even though it was late in the day.
What could be improved
I was asked to attend for my surgery in the afternoon session at 12:30pm. I was therefore expecting to be having my surgery sometime shortly after that once I had changed, had my blood pressure taken and spoken to the anaesthetist and surgeon. However, the surgeon did not turn up until around 1:15pm. After myself and 4 other patients had our blood pressure taken and gave urine samples, the surgeon and other staff had a meeting to decide which order the operations would be done in. After waiting until around 2pm, I decided to ask a nurse what was going on. She went to find out and informed me that my surgery would not be until at least 4:30pm. I was not happy about this as I was not allowed to eat anything all day and once I had arrived at the hospital I was not even able to drink water. Eventually I went for my surgery at around 4:45pm. I was not informed at any point leading up to the day of the surgery or when I arrived at 12:30 that this was the system and that I could expect some delay. I was sat in the hospital for 4 hours before my surgery. This is completely unnecessary although I would have accepted it if I had been informed at some point that it could happen!
