"Disappointed"

About: North Manchester General Hospital

What I liked

When my grandmother finally got seen by a doctor he was lovely and kept us informed. Also when there was a change of staff a nurse saw how uncomfortable my nana was in the chair( we had told other people she couldnt sit up because of the pain and were ignored) and she found ger a bed in the minor unit of A & E

What could be improved

Triage should listen. I bought my 85 year old grandmother in as she hadnt eaten for 5 days and was also unable to keep water down and was in agony and was unable to sit up due to the pain in her stomach . we had to wait hours to be seen and then she was given a plastic chair to sit in- when we complained this was uograded to a padded one. we were finally seen by a doctor after 5 hours. He was very nice but didnt want to address the pain, the mass in her stomach as she had a CT scan booked for the following thursday ( this was sunday) but did admit her to be rehydrated . No one seemed to care or want to take any responsibility or actually understand that just because my nana wasnt my screaming in pain ( well actually she was when touched or moved) she was in agony and is really ill. Instead of treating the symptons treat the whole person and find out what is wrong .

Anything else?

the scan should have been done earlier as she still cannot eat or drink she is getting weaker and weaker and i cannot get through to the consultants secretary to see where we should go from here as the results of the c t csan should be with him now.
