What I liked
In 2010 I had to spend time in Colchester General recovering from a hip replacement carried out in Slough following an accident. Unfortunately I had to write a letter regarding concerns I had with many issues. This time my visit was through A and E to the cardiology ward after a heart attack. The whole experience was completely different. I was dealt with quickly and efficiently in every area. Receptionists, porters, nurses, ancillary staff and doctors were all very professional. The wards were thoroughly cleaned and when a patient had an 'accident' and an area had to be cleaned up it was done straight away with no fuss. I was not told 'I don't do bodily fluids' as I was in my previous stay in another section of the hospital. Buzzers were dealt with promptly and patient needs were seen to straight away. There was respect shown at all times and the staff worked well together as a team. Handovers were seemless and thorough. Well done. I will be writing to the hospital personally to express these views.
