What I liked
I was transfered from surgical assessment where i have to say the doctors and nurses were lovely onto Huntsman 2 late on into the night.
Upon the next morning i was impressed that the nurses came round and introduced themselves and immediately felt at ease with them.
Throughout my day i found the staff to be kind, compassionare and caring - definatly unsung heroes.
What could be improved
The manner of the consultant left alot to be desired, maybe when you get to consultant level you are unable to speak to people or this was just an off day however it was not acceptable.
My first contact was the consultant was of him striding across the ward saying very loudly so what are you doing here then?. I must explain i was visiting a friend in Sheffield when i was taken ill, so Sheffield isnt my home town.
He then spent 10 minutes barking quiestions about why i was here and then without examining me told me i was going to be discharged so i could go on my way and get back to my home town!!!!
Anything else?
I thought the NHS stood for national health service not sheffield health service!!!
It does make me wonder though consdering this consultant does private appointments if his attitude would have been better if i had paid to see him despite not been from Sheffield. I dare say then this would have been a different story.
The nurses were lovely but the consultant let this whole situation down that i am unable to say anything positive other than the nurses and sister were true angels
"Im sure if you were from Sheffield things will be..."
