What I liked

Excellent service - I really felt like the staff cared about me. They were attentive, helpful, thoughtful, considerate and patient. They listened to my concerns and addressed them properly. When I went for my booking appointment they did everything there and then - I saw 5 departments in an hour! - so I wouldn't have to come back. And they were concerned about keeping me for an hour, they kept apologising, checking on me, chatting, bringing me drinks - I almost didn't want to go home! They really took care of me.

I recently moved back to Cornwall from Essex. My only other hospital experience was in Essex and I was expecting the same (no help, rude rushed staff, dirty conditions, quite an ordeal). Instead I was treated with dignity and respect by a dedicated, friendly, considerate team of staff who went out of their way to look after me well. They never rushed me, when I was worried they were patient, and when I took a little longer to recover than other patients, they never once made me feel weak or silly (for example, I tend to get dizzy after blood is taken - I always feel like an idiot but they were lovely, helped me to lie down, brought me a drink, even made suggestions about ways that it might be easier for me in future). If I have to go to hospital again, I would definitely choose Penzance.
