What could be improved
The care provided by the 'specialist' midwife. I was 9 weeks pregnant when i miscarried at home on a friday afternoon. The first point of contact was the 'specialist ' midwife that had been assigned to me as i was diabetic so i called and told them what had happened and asked whether i needed to go to A&E, they told me to go only if i start bleeding alot. Since i already had an antenatal appt scheduled for the following monday i asked if i should attend that and their reply was no. They also told me not to go to the scan booked on tuesday. Surely i should have been seen by someone but their cold hearted reply was no, you'll be fine in a couple of days and told me to throw the contents of what i had miscarried in the bin. I couldn't believe this is what i was hearing from a midwife, no support at all was given. Despite their advice i went to my scheduled appt on monday, i saw them many times in the waiting room and they completely ignored me and on top of that I was horrified to hear that when they were confronted by the consultant as to why they had told me to not come to the hospital they replied that i had refused to come on friday. Couldn't believe they would make up such a lie and how unprofessional they were. Northwick Park hospital has had many issues with the maternity dept in the past but i thought things had improved but no. With such staff and with the lack of support and care provided to me, i wouldn't recommend for anyone to go there.
"Awful and traumatic."
