"Excellent care for my heart attack"

About: Leighton Hospital / General surgery Royal Stoke University Hospital / Cardiology

(as the patient),

Arrived at GP at 10am on a Friday with self diagnosis of a chest infection. Told it would be treated as a heart attack.

Blood test and ECG done immediately by practise nurse. Told result would be phoned through to me. 3pm very caring GP phoned to say had had heart attack and an ambulance had been dispatched to take me to hospital.

Ambulance and paramedic arrived within 10 mins. In hospital with 30 mins. Through A&E and on coronary ward by 8pm. Fantastic treatment at all stages.

Monitored over weekend, seen by cardiologist on Monday.

Tuesday into UHNS for angiogram and stent on day trip from hospital. Discharged and given return appointment to UHNS for one week later for 4 more stents including a new type. Overnight stay and discharge. Follow up with consultant within the week.

I was kept fully informed at all times, received excellent care at all times and am truly grateful for the immediate diagnosis by GP.
