"Disappointed by the out of hours service"

About: New Stobhill Hospital / General Medicine

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter attended the out of hours service on Monday.

After a long wait (which I have no issue with as I appreciate the nature of the service) she was seen by a doctor who seemed to show little interest in her complaint. She explained she had a urine infection about 10 days earlier and was in a lot of pain on her right side, had a poor appetite and was generally feeling very poorly.

The doctor said she pulled a muscle and dismissed her - with a painkiller only after my daughter again explained about the level on discomfort she was in.

She then had to attend her GP, taking a day off work, losing a day's pay, to be told by her GP after examination and probing, she in fact now had a kidney infection.

I find this a very disappointing experience of the NHS.

Thank you very much for leaving your feedback.

I was sorry to read that you were disappointed with the consultation with the out of hours doctor on Monday last.

Unfortunately without further detail it is not possible to provide anything more specific than to acknowledge your concerns and to reassure you that I will pass this feedback on to the service manager so that they are aware of these comments, and to thank you again for taking the time and trouble to provide these for us.

Paul
