"Long wait for equipment required now"

About: Newcastle Hospitals Community Health

(as a relative),

My sister was being discharged with a broken ankle.

I was advised by the District Nurse that to get any equipment, the Occupational Therapist would visit between 6 and 18 months later to assess her needs!

Thank you for your comment regarding the long wait for equipment. I am very sorry that you were given the advice by the District Nurse as this does not reflect our practice. It is difficult for us to identify the staff member who has given you these details without any further information.

If you would like us to look into this issue in more detail please e-mail me at teresa.creighton@newcastle-pct.nhs.uk so that I can investigate the comment made by the District Nurse as we would not expect any patient to wait this length of time for an Occupational Therapy assessment.
