"Appointment Letters"

About: Northern General Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I am feeding back about the Princess Royal Spinal Injuries Unit at the Northern General Hospital, which I have been going to for several years. I got a letter asking me to to for an appointment and there was also a note beside it saying that if I didnt turn up I would be taken off the list and I should go back to my GP should I need something in the future.

Main thing is that the message from the Spinal Injuries Unit was that we patients can contact at any time for any need we have which is reassuring, but this letter feels like a threat. Why put these letters in with appointments when you are going to scare people who have always been told something different by the unit. Its not good for patient particularly new ones who really need this care. Is there another way to do this for this specialised unit?
