"The office for travel costs is too far away"

About: Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust

(as the patient),

Everytime I go to Wellfield Day Clinc, Cherry Knowle Hospital, I need to get my travel expenses back.

In January, without telling any patients, they moved the main office to the far end of this hospital. So now instead of walking just ten minutes to get to the office, I have to walk over 20 minutes to get to the office, then walk back down to the Wellfield Clinic. So over 40 minutes walking, even though I have been telling my CPN and doctors that I have very little energy.

I had to cancel appointments at this place because I didn't have the energy to walk to claim my bus fares back. The bus fares are far too much for me to pay out, that's why I need to claim them back.

Due to the current development of the new Cherry Knowle Hospital it has been necessary to move some services on a temporary basis.

The cashier’s office which reimbursed your travel expenses was moved in January to allow for demolition of the existing building, which in turn allows for the building of the new hospital. Can I apologise for the fact you were not informed of the move of offices and you are correct it was indeed a far walk, however the office has been moved back to the Old Garden Lodge which is closer to Wellfield Clinic, in fact less than a 10 minute walk just at the old gates to the old hospital.

The office will remain in the old Garden Lodge until the new hospital is opened which is planned for the summer of 2014.
