What could be improved

Overall patient care is appauling. I came to this hospital at the request of my out of hours gp to the maternity ward, 17 weeks pregnAnt in pain, cannot walk properly. Came to the maternity ward reception is like a ghost town had to buzz to get the door open. Came in, no one's there to direct you. After half hour of walking around in pain tryna find where to gon the nurse in the maternity unit tells me they can't help me without my notes and also because I'm just 17 weeks, I need to go to A+E. I said to them how do I get there, they tell me I need to walk back outside + go around the back of the hospital, I had to get nasty and ask them if they don't realise I'm in pain and could hardly walk. The nurse then called a pOrter to take me over! After getting there they're asking me if I can't go back home 4 my notes, and after being checked was told I can go, I need to walk back to my car its to far for a porter to take me, in the mean time I still can hardly walk. The attitude of the staff is like non I've ever seen before. I'm originall from a 3rd world country and I have to say that the care there is was more better than the care I had at watford. I am scared to know what my delivery experience will be like, I'm definitely changing hospitals. That was absolutely rediculous.

Thank you for taking the trouble to comment through our NHS Choices service. You’re clearly very unhappy about the experience you had at Watford General and issues of this nature are taken very seriously.

The importance of a ‘gold standard’ patient experience is one of our key objectives and communication between staff and patients is something we’re working hard to improve. If your experience has yet to be investigated already we know that our senior clinical colleagues will want to investigate this thoroughly on your behalf.

If you could get in touch with us by email at wherts-tr.complaintsteam@nhs.net, our Quality Assurance Team will provide you with a detailed response on each of the issues raised.
