What I liked
I would like to compliment the staff on duty last night at Pontefract A+E. I took my fiance in after he had been in pain for a few weeks. We felt very silly when we got there, as he looked ok and there were other people with visible injuries. However, we were taken very seriously and dealt with promptly and efficiently. The staff did an excellent job and were very friendly and accomodating. I was particularly touched at the little things the staff did for us during our 4 hour visit – they let us use the hospital telephone to phone our families and update them as our mobiles had run out of charge, and one lady even made my fiance a pack up to take with him when he travelled to Dewsbury hospital. They were absolute stars.
The staff at the hospital were very professional, hard working, as efficient as they could be with the resources available and, above all, they were friendly and reassuring. What a great atmosphere. They should be very proud.
What could be improved
The only downside to all this is that Government cuts have impacted on the staff there so much that only 5 people were on duty to deal with the whole A+E department. I really feel for the NHS staff as they should not be facing these cuts. I can understand that cuts need to be made, but surely not here.
"Excellent."
