"Absolutely brilliant. Caring and skilled nurses,..."

About: Addenbrooke's Hospital

What I liked

I was transferred to Addenbrooke's hospital from my local hospital for an expert opinion regarding one of my neurological conditions, Intracranial Hypertension. All staff were very welcoming, reassuring, helpful and efficient, and quickly had me settled in and comfortable. Whenever I had a question, whether it be general or about my care, the nurses were only too happy to help out and I found them all polite, caring, comforting and extremely knowledgeable in the field of neurology which was very reassuring.

I was seen promptly by the surgeon who was pleasant, jovial and kind, confirmed my suspicions about my Intracranial Hypertension and offered to perform the surgery I needed, but had been denied by my local hospital, Hull Royal Infirmary, in order to help my condition and help control my symptoms.

I was attended to regularly by everyone involved in my care, nurses, ward clerks, sisters, physiotherapists, nurse practitioners, consultants, surgeons - and I was constantly kept up to date and in the loop with regards to my care - this is something I have never experienced at my local hospital.

The communication between staff was excellent. They are amazing people and I can honestly say I have never enjoyed a hospital stay as much as my week at Addenbrooke's. My surgery was carried out quickly, efficiently, and the after care was fantastic. I was up and about the day after my op with the help of the physiotherapist and encouragement of the nurses and ward staff.

Everyone I encountered was warm, welcoming, reassuring, polite, happy, knowledgeable, and more than willing to help. Despite the fact I was having an operation, I was calm and at ease, and I honestly believe the positive and efficient attitude of the hospital really encouraged my recovery and is why today I feel fantastic, so thank you, sincerely, to everyone at Addenbrooke's, from the bottom of my heart.

What could be improved

I tried to think of something but I was impressed with everything.
