Our child was born premature and was admitted to the NICU. Initially, the nurses were very nice, however, when we asked questions we were never given a straight answer.

Each time we visited the unit and spoke to a different nurse, we would hear something different to what we were previously told, not filling us with much confidence.

Our child eventually progressed and moved up stages within the unit. We are now at a stage where there a few minor issues with our child yet the nurses are fighting against us rather than trying to work with us in trying to get our child home.

We don't want to put too much detail on this public site, however, we will comment that we have grave concerns and will be making the matter formal once we finally make it to the end of our NICU journey.

It is unfortunate that you feel you are experiencing a poor level of care in the NICU, which is often noted for delivering a high quality of care. It is important that the information you are given is consistent, accurate and fills you with confidence in the care we deliver rather than cause you upset and anxiety. In order that we can deal with this issue immediately rather than wait until the end of your NICU journey I would suggest you ask to speak in private to Sister Sue Moore or Matron Wendy Hulse, who will spend time with you and work through your concerns.

We would wish that when you take your baby home from NICU it will be a time to enjoy rather than spend it on dealing with your poor experience here. I can assure you that we will be able to discuss with you any matter you wish to raise and we welcome all comments on our service so that we can continue to improve or care to babies and families.
