"Excellent hospital and community care"

About: Derriford Hospital Livewell Southwest

(as the patient),

I was admitted to Derriford Hospital recently with pneumonia. From casualty to the medical assessment ward and to the main ward, staff were brilliant and couldn't do enough for me. The only disappointing bit was the food.

I am a long term patient with disability and am a wheelchair user. I couldn't leave hospital until I could transfer myself from the bed to my wheelchair. In my opinion, I left hospital a day too soon and again needed help getting from my bed to my wheelchair when I got home. I am under a community matron and the district nurses who come out to me are amazing. They always call back within half an hour and come out even at night time. I don't like going to hospital and my community matron knows my case better than my new GP who issued me with tablets that I was allergic to because she didn't read my notes properly. I am happier at home and can do more.

Dear Noble895

Many thanks for sharing your experience of the care received at Derriford and from the community matron and district nurses, who will be delighted to hear you have taken the time to share your story on line.

You may want to contact your Gp surgery to discuss the issue you raised regarding your medication.

Kind Regards

Plymouth Community Healthcare
