"Keeping noise to a minimum"

(as the patient),

1/ It's nice that each room has a television but I think a sign needs to go above each TV reminding people to keep the noise to a minimum as some people have their TV very loud. I actually chapped the person in questions' door and asked them to turn the volume down. Or they should be supplied with headphones.

2/ Apart from the above, I found the doctors and nursing staff were kind, patient and respectful, explaining anything I needed to know or found troubling with great kindness.

Thank you for using Patient Opinion to tell us about your recent stay here at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital – and apologies for only getting back to you now.

Thank you also for your kind comments about our staff – we will be sure to share this with them.

Each patient who stays overnight with us has their own single room with en suite shower room, telephone and television. As well as providing you with your own space and privacy, this helps reduce infections. Whilst patients are in their room, they can choose what to watch on their television and adjust the volume to suit; some patients may be hard of hearing, so may need to have the volume higher than someone else.

We do have signs displayed throughout our wards asking everyone – both patients and staff – to keep noise to a minimum in the ward areas. However, your suggestion to have this in each patient room is a good one and is one that we will be looking at introducing in the future. We would also encourage anyone to speak to a member of staff if they felt there was too much noise coming from anywhere in the ward.
