" Trapped in an area with poor health provision re GP services"

I live in Erskine, Renfrewshire. I have been a patient in my medical practice there for 15 years. However, this year (2012) it has been extremely difficult to get an appointment within 1 week.

My most recent experience has been the worst ever. In August 2012 I tried to arrange an appointment with any of the 5 out of 6 GPs who work in the practice (there is 1 GP who I won't see at all). At the reception desk I was informed there were no appointments available within the next two weeks with any of the 5 doctors I would have seen! I was informed by the reception staff that I should ring every day in an attempt to get an appointment.

I have a number of long-term chronic illnesses. Following this experience I have thought about leaving the practice.

It is my view that the Greater Glasgow & Clyde Health Board should carry out an urgent review of the quality of health care provision within the Erskine area specifically.

It is truly appalling. following the writing of this I have now decided to contact the health board, and Minister for Health in Scotland - God help me! !
