"Disastrous"

About: Bradford Royal Infirmary

What I liked

Nothing at all - I never got to have any treatment.

What could be improved

I have complained about this before so here is an update. I would not like Urology to think it has got away with its incompetence.

I turned up for a procedure, overnight bag in hand only to be informed it was cancelled.

Nobody had thought it necessary to let me know.

Matron was apologetic at the time and raised an Incident. But she called later to say she had not found out why I was "delisted" or who was responsible for not informing me.

That is the last I heard about the matter.

The impression given is that nobody in Urology cares about patients.

Get rid of all your timeservers and jobsworths and employ some effective office staff - there are plenty of caring, conscientous, efficient people out here who would love to work in the NHS.

Anything else?

I was treated disgracefully, with no respect or consideration.

It was compounded by the consultant's attitude towards me. He openly criticised me for not being able to give a sample. Yet I had not been instructed to attend his session with a full bladder. Then, while in his adjoining treatment room, he spoke to his nurse about me in derogatory and insulting terms.

What do these people think they are?

Hello, first of all can I please apologise that you did not receive a response to your feedback at the time. This seems to have been due to a technical fault which meant some posts not feeding through to us, and we have asked NHS Choices to put this right.

I am sorry that you were unhappy with your experience, it is not what we expect for our patients. If this has not been resolved please do contact us as we would not want your treatment or health to be at risk.

Should you have any further concerns please ask to speak to a senior member of the nursing team, or the Matron for the area so we can look into it straight away and put it right. If you do not feel you can do that please contact the Patient Experience Manager on 01274 364810.
