What I liked
1. All the staff in the Day Surgery Unit, from the receptionist to the nursing staff on the Recovery Ward. All the staff were very helpful with a friendly manner. Given that there were six lists running on this particular morning, I really did appreciate this level of support.
2. Anaesthetist was clear and comprehensive explanations with a relaxed and friendly manner.
3.The colorrectal surgeon is an enthusiastic supporter of laproscopic techniques for the repair of inguinal hernias. Previously I experienced a repair carried out using open surgery and a local anaesthetic, For anyone who shares my lack of enthusiasm for any form of surgery, I would strongly recommend the laporoscopic method. This time, recovery has been significantly quicker and much less painfiul in the period immediately after surgery. The surgeon has a very easy manner and is an excellent communicator.
What could be improved
Not very much! As someone who finds physical exrecise an important outlet, I would have appreciated a more detailed breakdown of starting dates for particular forms of exercise. I was given some of this information, but given my strong desire not to have another hernia repair, I may be putting too much emphasis on this aspect. I will be attending a private physiothereapy clinic in the next few weeks in order to strengthen my core muscles.
"Excellent care by helpful, very friendly..."
