What could be improved
I was seen,I can not say treated,as I wasn't in ENT in April 2011,having been refered there by me Gp due to considereable pain in my ear and reaccoring infections that would not clear with Anti biotics.
The consultant I was unfortuate to see couldn't have been ruder if he tried. He treated me as if I was wasting his time.
He said that I could never of had an ear infection in my life as my ear drum looked fine when he examined it.I had finished a course of antibiotics 2 days earlier.
When I mentioned the pain and asked what he suggested,he said he didn't think I was in any pain. When I said I was,he asked'Where?'.I pointed to behind my ear where there was a swelling around the bone, which is not present on the other ear,and he said'well pain in your shoulder is associated with problems with your lower spine and not witth your ear'.Since when has my shoulder been attatched to the back of my ear?
He had a trainee doctor in the room with him who he shouted at.
I am still in considerable pain and the swelling is large and uncomfortable.
I am loathed to attend ENT again incase'I waste any more of the over paid consultants time. His bedside manner is non existant. He should be there to treat and reassure, not ridicule and make people feel worthless.
I am totally appallled with his behaviour and attitude to patients
Anything else?
I only hope that if I do have to attend ENT again I do not have the unfortunate task of having to be seen by this consultant again
"complete and utter waste of time(on my behalf)what..."
