What I liked
The A+E nurses were absolutely lovely, they were very clear about what would happen next and treated you as a normal human being, even cracking a few jokes to cheer you up. It is thanks to them that I got seen by the doctor otherwise the doctor would not have bothered.
What could be improved
I strongly think that the Surgical Assessment Unit and the MAU drastically need improving.
In the SAU the nurses during the night spoke to such high levels I was convinced that they only knew shouting to each other was the only method of talking. It kept me and a lot of other patients awake, there was no boundaries between myself and other patients where the could hear all of my personal and confidential information as well as I could hear all of their's including the people resting across the room.
In the MAU there was an elderly patient begging for help repeatedly from the nurses and they just ignored her. It was only until I confronted the nurses that they even bothered to give her a drink of water and attended to her. Which completely broke my heart how one elderly woman is suffering simply because of sheer laziness of the staff there. Not to mention during my stay there was difficult as I was forced to go over 30 hours without food and water simply because they were too busy spending time talking amongst themselves.
I self discharged myself from this hospital in fear of my personal safety and unsatisfied the fact I was forced to be deprived of food and water. Which in itself is a breach of The Human Rights Act!
Anything else?
MAU and SAU strongly need government reviewing.
"A+E Top Class, everything else a complete disaster..."
