"too much waiting around and consent procedure..."

About: Royal Bolton Hospital

What could be improved

I have visited this hospital for the same procedure in the past 12 months. On both occasions I have been instructed to arrive at the ward by 7.15 a.m.and on both occasions I have only been taken for my procedure after 13.00 hrs.The staff caring for me whilst undergoing treatment have told me that their department is only open from 8.30 a.m.Obviously I understand the need to arrive timeously for appointments but it seems a little excessive to arrive so early. Also I have noticed patients who have arrived later in the morning have then had their treatment before me.

Each time I have been for this treatment there seems to be a mix up over my consent forms-the 1st time the consent form had been lost which meant a medic had to be found to "consent" me again. The second time a similar story.

Thanks for taking the time to comment on our services. We apologise that your experience was less than satisfactory. We are aware that there can be significant waiting time until you receive your procedure, dependent on the order that the patients are to be seen in. We are seeking to minimise this waiting time in order to improve patient experience and also to ensure that patients are clearly informed at pre assessment that there is no guarantee of the order that you will undergo the procedure. We are also sorry to hear that there was a problem with the consent process, we do endeavour to ensure that consent is gained efficiently and effectively. We apologise that in your experience this was not the case.
