What could be improved

Car parking is the most outrageous rip-off. Even in central London you are not expected to pay prices of £5.50 for 5 hours or even £2.50 for 2 hours. This is for parking on a gravel patch as well. We really must stop this appalling tax on patients. Why can't England be like Wales and Scotland and make it free or at worst charge a nominal sum. If public transport was a realistic possibility then again there may be some justification but this place is in the middle of Manchester's postwar overspill estate.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments on the NHS Choices Website. We are sorry to hear of your concerns regarding the car parking charges at the University Hospital of South Manchester.

The Trust does however strive to keep car parking charges to a minimum. We would like to reassure you that other hospitals in the North West are contacted every year to make sure that our car parking charges resemble theirs. We also provide concession tickets for those who are frequently visiting the hospital. There are signs on pay stations making visitors aware that concessions are available and to contact security regarding this.
