About: Basildon University Hospital

What could be improved

In a recent familiy visit to the hospital, we saw patients not being fed. My father - who had open wounds after an accident - was placed in a room sharing facilities with a patient who was known to be infectious. We were made to wait hours without explanation. He was kept overnight for "observation", though no-one bothered to check on him. He was told he could go at 10:00 the next day, but his 'release form' was not signed and so they did not let him go until five hours later. The place is dirty and unpleasant, and the nurses simply do not seem to have a clue what they are doing.

We have noticed that a number of comments posted on the NHS Choices some time ago did not receive a posted response from the Trust, for which we offer our sincere apologies.

We would like to assure you that at the time your comments were posted they were shared with the relevant departments.

Feedback from patients and/or their relatives/carers is always welcomed (negative or positive) whether it is showing appreciation for the care and treatment received or expressing concerns or offering suggestions to improve practices at the hospital.
