What I liked
The surgeons and anaesthetists were really pleasant and informative
What could be improved
More information re my discharge prior to me being admitted for sugery and undergoing it. Also the early admission, only to be waiting from 7.35 to 10.45.
Anything else?
I was told after the surgery that I could not go home in hospital transport, which I had previously made the hospital aware of the fact that I would be using, This led to me, having been given two slices of toast with jam at 2.30pm. Having to sit till after 6pm.to be picked up, and not even offered a drink of water. There was no porter organised, even though I'd had foot surgery. Very much a case of once discharged I was not their responsibility. Get them in early, then chuck them out as quick as we can seems to be your motto. Just glad I will have free choice in future, as I would not like to think I would have to be in there again. Lastly, I was given a mans large size orthotic shoe, which means that my foot is very uncomfortable, as the operation site, which is supposed to be elevated is actually resting on the thickest part of the shoe. This means that I will be extremely immobile until I am out of it, not good as I have arthritis, the nurse who I rang just reminded me that I was given painkillers, not sure if any damage is being done, why else would they use a special orthotic, which is supposed to prevent exactly what is happening. I was also told to examine it for bleeding, swelling or infection, well I can't get my eyes that far down, or see through the thick dressing, just wish they lived in the real world.
"Up till the surgery fine, following the surgery,..."
