What I liked
My Mum was referred to the assessment unit by a Dr from her surgery and she was seen within 2 hours in a very busy department. Mum was treated exceptionally well on this occasion by a wonderful young Dr. who was caring, compassionate, empathetic and understanding.
Mum was moved the next day to a ward which was also excellent. The staff were superb and the environment was excellent. The atmosphere of the ward was bouyant and happy - the other ladies on the ward were talking and very relaxed.
What could be improved
A reception area in the assessment unit would be very good because people stood in front of a desk waiting for an acknowledgement that they were even in the room - the Drs were so busy that they did not respond to those who came to the desk in any way - this made you feel unattended and in the way.
Anything else?
I recommend this hospital but you have to understand the constraints and difficulties which the NHS is operating under at this moment in time. The Drs are obviously overworked and under great pressure. Despite this my Mum, my husband and I were treated with respect and caring.
"Excellent care and facilities. Very clean and..."
