i was at durham hospital to day with my husband , i wentout side for a tab when i was told to put it out, i was in the open out the way of the doors i was talking to a lady who was allso smoking as was a lot of people but a lady wearing a nhs badge came to us, why have ash bins if i cannot smoke there out in the open not inside. i think you have got it wrong i know smoking is fround upon but a lot of us still smoke as do alot of your staff leave us alone if we are not in your were

Thank you for providing feedback on your recent visit to University Hospital North Durham in July 2012.

I am very sorry to hear that you were unhappy with your experience on this occasion. Whilst we recognise the decision to turn our site into a smoke free site was not a popular decision, it was felt that as a health organisation it was the right decision to make and all Trust employees are asked to remind patients and visitors that they should not smoke whilst in our grounds.
