What I liked
I had a difficult pregnancy and a traumatic labour and the support I received throughout was really good. For the majority of the time I felt my views were listened to and that I was fully involved in decisions about my care. The only time my views were overridden was during labour when the obstetrician decided I needed to be in theatre and I really did not want to go. Fortunately my husband was there, much less irrational that I was and he convinced me to let it happen - once I'd recovered from labour I was very glad that the decision was taken even though at the time it upset me.
The care I receive pre-labour, post-labour and during labour was good. My baby ended up in special care for a week and the care he received there was excellent and the staff kept me fully informed.
What could be improved
More qualified staff on Rowan Ward in the pre-birth section as it was difficult to find someone to get pain relief.
"Excellent care, staff at all levels seem to work..."
