"Excellent care, staff at all levels seem to work..."

About: Kettering General Hospital

What I liked

I had a difficult pregnancy and a traumatic labour and the support I received throughout was really good. For the majority of the time I felt my views were listened to and that I was fully involved in decisions about my care. The only time my views were overridden was during labour when the obstetrician decided I needed to be in theatre and I really did not want to go. Fortunately my husband was there, much less irrational that I was and he convinced me to let it happen - once I'd recovered from labour I was very glad that the decision was taken even though at the time it upset me.

The care I receive pre-labour, post-labour and during labour was good. My baby ended up in special care for a week and the care he received there was excellent and the staff kept me fully informed.

What could be improved

More qualified staff on Rowan Ward in the pre-birth section as it was difficult to find someone to get pain relief.

Thank you for taking the time to provide positive comments regarding your recent care. We are really glad that you had a good experience and felt supported and listened to by all of the staff involved in your care. We will ensure that your comment is passed onto the staff on the wards.

We have the required number of trained staff for Rowan ward however we are sincerely sorry that you experienced a delay in geting the pain relief you required at the most optimum time for you. We will reflect on this and feedback to staff.

Again, thank you for taking the time to post such a positive comment overall regarding your maternity care at KGH.
