Anything else?

My partner's mother is at the moment in the Rutson Ward in the hospital. She has asked to be taken to the toilet recently only to be told that she should instead soil the bed, as 'your daughter can wash the bedclothes'.

My partner has also told me that tomorrow she will wash her mother and also wash her mother's hair, as the lady in question has not had a shower/bath for over a week, apparently caused by the fact that the staff are 'too busy'.

I personally find this situation undignified and unacceptable, and am prepared to report this to the local press.

I do not however expect a reply to this comment if the efficiency of the feedback system is similar to the efficiency of the ward and its staff.

Good Afternoon Andrew

I am very concerned to read your comments posted onto the NHS Choices website. Could I please urge you to discuss your concerns with the Ward Manager at the Ruston, as the description of care being delivered needs to be addressed as a matter of urgency. Further details are required to deal with your concerns by Trust staff, therefore, please contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 0800 0282451 / 01642 854807 who will be able to help. Please accept my apologies for your partner’s mother not receiving a high level of nursing care expected by staff.

Kind Regards

Rachel Jamieson-Gaffney
