"Disappointing."

About: Royal Eye Infirmary

What I liked

The consultant who (eventually, after a long wait) saw me was very helpful and spent time explaining to me what was wrong and why I would need laser eye surgery. He explained that this would be on a priority basis and I'd be contacted within three weeks for an appointment. Good level of medical care.

What could be improved

I couldn't make the first appointment I was offered as I was out of the country. I've not heard a peep from them since, over four months (now nearly five) later, despite this being an 'urgent need'. Really poor. Have called to chase and been transferred to 'Appointments' where the phone rings out and no-one answers. I'll keep trying the premium rate number (I have no other choice) and I guess I'll just hope it wasn't as urgent as the consultant said.

Anything else?

On arrival the reception process was shambolic. I was sent from one reception to the other at least four times. Waiting time could be improved; I arrived at 8.50 for a 9.20 appointment and eventually was seen at about 11 o'clock.
