"Chorley Hospital is not a place you want to be if..."

About: Chorley & South Ribble Hospital

What I liked

Some of the staff were helpful and the ward was generally clean although there was some room for improvement

What could be improved

Staff need to stop being so defensive all the time when asked questions. They also need to stop making excuses when care is poor. Standards at Chorley hospital for some patients are falling below what should be expected, patients are not attended to often enough when they are unable to care for themselves. Not being given drinks regularly, not being made comfortable when they are clearly uncomfortable and unable to move is not acceptable. Inadequate staffing is very noticeable in some wards.

Staff often contradicted each other, one person would say something and this would then be contradicted by another member of staff as being incorrect information.

Anything else?

Despite government directives elderly patients are still being spoken to in a patronising manner. It is inappropriate for staff to speak to patients as if they were children. Its time that practice stopped.
