What I liked

The whole process in the Day Surgery is streamlined and efficient. This requires surgical, clinical, support and administrative staff to work as a team. A simple example, the drugs to be taken home by a patient are ready for the event rather than causing a delay while they are obtained from the pharmacy. I arrived for a hernia repair at 07:30 was in theatre by 11:00 back in a ward by midday and being collected by wife at 15:00. At every stage everything was explained to me. The staff at the Day Surgery have a pleasant expertise.

There are many complaints about the NHS and I have had reason to make some of them myself. I think it is important to report good treatment too, so that those responsible know that their efforts are noted and appreciated by patients.

In this case the Day Surgery can only work as well as it does because someone has put a lot of thought into how to make it so. Then each person in the team has to play their part in looking after the patients.

What could be improved

There must be things the staff themselves spot that could be improved. As a patient I was not aware of anything amiss during my thankfully short stay.
