"Brilliant care and lovely staff"

About: St Michael's Hospital (Bristol)

What I liked

I had an operation to remove an ovarian cyst in January and was in Ward 78 for 3 days. Every member of staff including nurses, healthcare assistants, consultants, doctors, catering and cleaning staff, and reception were very kind and caring. I felt that I was very well looked after and also informed about everything happening to me. I called the ward the day after I was discharged with a health question and the receptionist found out the answer & returned my call within 10 minutes. A month later I had a question for the consultant who returned my call within an hour.

I felt very lucky to have the NHS after this experience!

What could be improved

All three letters sent by the hospital to my central Bristol home address arrived very late which involved phone calls to find out important information including the time of my operation (the letter did not arrive until a day or so after the op!).

Thank you for taking the time to post a comment. We are pleased that you had such a good experience of the Gynaecology service and we will pass this onto the team. We apologise for the lateness of the letters you received. Our aim is to ensure that patients receive letters in plenty of time for their appointment. When we do have to make arrangements at short notice our standard practice is to telephone the patient as well. We would welcome the opportunity to look into this issue further and if you would like us to do so please do not hesitate to contact our Patient Support & Complaints Team on 0117 342 3604 .
